Walnut School
Located six miles south of Washington on Highway 1, the school was built on land donated by Miller Family Memorial. In addition to being a school, it was also home of the Walnut Women who organized on October 6, 1921.
Walnut School had an active literary society that produced a newspaper called the Verdi Illuminator. Soldiers drilled on the grounds in preparation for the Civil War.
